Primer Pasaje (First Pasage)
This is a three-volume set of texts (Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced) written to guide the foreign speaking student through every step of learning Spanish. These are not traditional Spanish book texts, but rather books that are organized for their actual use in the class and written in such a way as to facilitate the learning process of Spanish for the foreign speaker. For example, most students cringe at the word grammar in their own language, let alone in another language. Grammar is a necessary part of any language, but it is presented in these lessons as a transparent part of the process. The student learns the grammar as we all do naturally when we are children...without knowing we did! Of course the elements are defined in the Advanced lessons. A fourth volume in this series is now available dedicated to the subject of the use of the Subjunctive (Subjuntivo) mood. In Spanish this is a grammatical form used extensively and requires a considerable amount of dedicated study for the advanced student. Although, part of the uniqueness of the lesson plans at TicaMila is the introduction and use of the Subjunctive much earlier in the learning process. To order see Ordering Materials.
El Verbo Visual (the Visual Verb)
This also is a three volume set that can be purchased individually or as a group. It is a unique compilation of all the most commonly used verbs in the Spanish Language and is divided into three groups for Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. This is a great tool for teachers at all levels as well as any individual can make tremendous use of this visual method to increase their vocabulary.
In the Beginner volume there are displayed more than 500 verbs. We say 'displayed' for the unique presentation that is used. Each verb is represented by a visual "cartoon" which the student sees and then guesses what is the action taking place. The primary verb and any other appropriate verbs for that image and level are displayed on the back of the image itself on the same page. This is much like the concept of flash cards, but here they are arranged in book form. These books contain more than 1500 verbs total and each includes a complete index and translation list in English. Available only here at Ticamila in Costa Rica. La Familia (the Family)
Who's who in the Spanish family tree? A unique and fun teaching aid that can be used in game form in the learning environment or simply used as a unique reference for the vocabulary of the family members. This set includes one 8 1/2" x 11" and one 11" x 17" of each of the two cartels shown here, completely sealed in plastic.
It also includes a complete set of the individual 16 members, also with each one sealed in plastic. These may be used as part of a question and answer game session. In addition there is a complete list of all the family relations possible in this family tree (121). To order see Ordering Materials.
