Overview
TicaMila is a small private Spanish Language School in Costa Rica dedicated to providing a personalized and private environment where you can learn Spanish in safe, comfortable and private environment. Unlike the larger schools and institutes, of which there are dozens and dozens in latin america, we are not interested in processing a herd of students every month solely for profit motives. Our goal is to provide a quality level of teaching to those who are interested in a more efficient and effective method to learn Spanish. The vast experience of our teachers coupled with the direct and private nature of the class experience allows us to tailor our lessons for the individual students needs and requirements. It doesn't matter if you are a beginner with absolutely zero Spanish, an intermediate level person who wants to continue or brush up for whatever reason, or a full-on advanced student who wants to complete their knowledge and use of the spanish language. Our teachers can manage all of this and more. In addition, we have had considerable experience with company executive level training programs, and specialty career training like medical personal or even other educators.Teachers
The Director and primary 'professora' in our spanish language school is Milagro Camacho. She has had more than 20 years of teaching Spanish to foreign students from all over the world. She has a graduate degree in Philology, has worked and published for the University of Cost Rica, for which she still contracts on occasion, and has taught Spanish in public, private, and institute environments. In addition, she was an associate owner of a major Spanish school institute here in Costa Rica for many years. In recent years Milagro has concentrated her efforts on producing much needed educational materials in the field of Spanish for foreigner speakers, as well as providing training classes for other teachers wanting to enter this field. Many of the books and materials used in the classes were produced by her and are available both through class inscription and individually, *see Educational Materials .
Since the service being offered is very personalized the teaching staff is limited to a small number of teachers whose qualifications are similar to that of Milagro's. They are all known to her personally through previous work experiences, and they have been trained specifically by her for the goals of this spanish language school. Each of them are contracted and brought in as needed to fulfill class needs, but Milagro personally tries to conduct most class activities.
Facilities
At the school you will have access to computer e-mail, phone and fax services. Mail is managed through the local post office since there is no direct mail delivery service.
Transportation
Of course car rentals, taxis and busses are all available at the airport, but once you are a registered student and are planning on a Homestay option we would prefer to pick you up personally at the airport, so we will be arranging that with you when the time comes and there is no additional charge. If you have other living arrangements, such as in a hotel or with friends we expect that transportation will be available to you from those sources, but if it is not please advise us and we will be happy to arrange pick-up at the airport for you as well.
Trips and Tours
There is a wealth of natural wonders, places of interest, and things to do and see in Costa Rica. All of which can be accessed during your stay here. The school has a dedicated agent available to help you arrange and book any trip or tour you may have in mind. If you are unfamiliar with Costa Rica and what it has to offer we suggest that you spend a little time on the internet or in your favorite guide book before coming down. Some events are seasonal, like the spawning of the great sea turtles or a trip may simply not be as enjoyable during the rainy season for instance. In any event, our agent can provide you with a full compliment of what to see and do in this exciting place if that is your interest.
